The Committee 2008/09:
Alice Malin - PresidentAlice is pleased to be this year's President and is really looking forward to working with such a nice and enthusiastic bunch of committee members. The Corpus playroom is a great venue for theatre of all kinds - the new, the well-known and the very exciting! She'd like to encourage everyone to apply to the Corpus Playroom to maintain its status as one of the best venues for theatre in Cambridge. Zenobe Reade - Seasons Manager
As Season's Manager, Zenobe seems to wield worrying power over which plays are performed at the Playroom. She deals with applications for shows and for Fletcher Players funding and is honing a more gruelling interview process after having been told that it was the least scary one seasoned producer had encountered. It's unlikely to change much however, and you should feel free to contact her if you've got any questions about applications or the procedure for shows at the Playroom. Patrick Farmbrough - Technical Manager
Patrick oversees all the technical things to do with the Corpus Playroom, which involves sitting at the back of the playroom pushing buttons, making sure everyone is both healthy and safe (at least while in the Playroom), pretending to know exactly how to fix anything that breaks, and running to the Cambridge Arts Theatre for help when anything breaks. Not content with only being allowed to play with lights and sounds, Patrick is currently campaigning for permission to use a full range of pyrotechnics in the playroom. He also maintains the Fletcher Players and Corpus Playroom websites, and would like to add that Jamie and Dom are both idiots for responding with inane "banter" to every email he sends. Maria Helmling - Communications Manager
As Communications Manager, Maria sends out the weekly What's On email to devoted followers of the Fletcher Players. She is also in touch with Corpus Christi College Oxford to organise the annual exchange. Maria has always been keen on getting involved in drama and finally got her hands dirty in producing the highly enjoyable Fresher Play. Any questions, or if you're unsure whom to contact, please email her. Miranda Murphy - Secretary
In her role as FP secretary Miranda is in charge of exciting things such as taking minutes at meetings, minding and arranging the FP archives and generally looking after the society's documents and other bits and pieces. Miranda has been involved in theatre from a scarily young age as both an actress and director. She has been linked to a large number of productions and written several (fairly terrible) plays. She made her Cambridge acting debut in the Corpus fresher's play, as a camp man with a leek fetish ... oh the glamour! Hazel O'Mahoney - Treasurer
As treasurer, Hazel is responsible for looking after the accounts and writing cheques, mostly for expensive committee dinners, but occasionally for plays as well. If you have any financial issues, please get in touch with her. When she's not jealously counting her piles of cash, Hazel has been known to act, including a famous role as a homicidal fairy godmother, responsible for no less than six on stage murders. Grace Hadley - Props & Costumes
If you ever need a look round the costume and prop cupboard, Grace is the person you call. Only she holds the key to eternal youth, but also the cupboard. The FP cupboard holds an exciting array of bizarre and beautiful costumes and props. Please get in touch if you ever need extra props or items of clothing for any production. Patricia Burns - General Member
Patricia is a 'General Member' of the Fletcher Players, meaning that she acts as a general dogsbody, helping out wherever possible whilst wearing her oh-so-cool FP hoody. Patricia has been involved in drama for as long as she can remember and has competed at a national level. She relishes the prospect of being involved in the managerial side of the Corpus playroom, but is certainly not ready to hang up her thespian's hat just yet! Philip Murray - General Member
Arriving in Cambridge, Philip decided to have a bash at acting in the impressively ad-lib-ed 'Season's Greetings'. Unfortunately, the lime light was too much to handle, and he decided to give up the acting-lark and try producing. Not quite content to be making posters and bossing people around between Law lectures, he decided to join the Fletcher Players committee, and is looking forward to a whole year of theatre-related frolics. Esther Sforza - General Member
Esther is a lovely, helpful and cheery member of the Fletcher Players Committee. No task is too big or too small for this general member - she approaches any challenge with the motto 'Just a spoonful of sugar . . . '. She can find just about any prop for a play, pigeonholes term cards at a rate of 10 per second, and is particularly nifty with the photocopier. Back to the current committee.
